Deputy finance ministers from 20 of the world's advanced and emerging economies will meet on Feb. 27 and 28 at the newly developed international business district of Songdo in Incheon, the Presidential Committee for the G-20 Summit said yesterday.

The committee, led by Sakong Il, held a meeting in its new office near the Blue House and made a decision on the venue of the G-20 deputy finance ministers' meeting.

Songdo, a special economic enclave inside Incheon, was selected as the venue because the committee only has a short period of time to prepare the event. The location is also convenient for the arrival of foreign guests, the committee said.

Songdo is located about 65 kilometers (40 miles) west of Seoul and is directly connected to Incheon International Airport by a highway bridge. The area is a part of Incheon's free economic zone and its business district includes a convention center.

After Seoul was selected as the host city for the G-20 Summit next November, the government has said that other meetings associated with the G-20, including finance ministerials and Sherpa organizational meetings will be hosted by cities around the nation.
