Commuters in Gwanghwamun flinch yesterday morning as the temperature in Seoul dipped below the freezing point. Today’s low temperature in Seoul is expected to be much lower than yesterday’s low which was at minus 1.1 degrees Celsius, or 30 degrees Fahrenheit, in the morning, the Korea Meteorological Administration said. The weather agency forecasts today’s morning low for Seoul at minus 4. Gyeonggi and Gangwon provinces will also experience cold weather as the temperature is expected to fall below zero. The weather agency also forecast that either light snow or rain may fall in Seoul. For the first time in this season, Seoul saw ice, which appeared 15 days earlier than last year. Mount Seorak in Gangwon Province recorded 45 centimeters (17.7 inches) of heavy snow, the first of the season. By Ahn Seong-sik
