Kim Yu-na nominated as female athlete of the year

Figure skater Kim Yu-na has been nominated as Sportswoman of the Year.

The poll, conducted by the Women’s Sports Foundation, is currently underway and the winner will be announced Oct. 13 at an event in New York City. The 10 nominees were chosen based on performances given between Aug. 1, 2008 and July 31, 2009.

Founded by former tennis star Billie Jean King in 1974, the foundation has chosen a Sportswoman of the Year every year since 1993.
