More than 28,000 runners took part yesterday in the 2008 JoongAng Seoul Marathon, hosted by the JoongAng Ilbo and Korea Athletics Federation. The race began at the Seoul Olympic Stadium and covered the southern part of the city and Seongnam, Gyeonggi. Ethiopia¡¯s Solomon Molla won the men¡¯s race at two hours, eight minutes and 46 seconds. And for the second straight year, Ji Young-jun was the fastest Korean. He came in at 2:13:04. The women¡¯s race was open to Korean runners only, and Lee Sun-young finished first at 2:29:58. She is only the fourth Korean female marathoner ever to finish a race under 2:30. By Kim Seong-ryong
