On the day Kim had announced these allegations,/ Lee threatened to sue him for libel. 김혁규 의원이 이러한 의혹들을 발표한 당일,/ 이 후보 캠프는 김 의원을 명예훼손으로 고소하겠다고 위협했다. Lee denied the allegations he had speculated in real estate/ but remained mum on the allegations that he falsely registered his residence. 이 후보는 자신이 부동산 투기를 했다는 의혹을 부인했으나/ 위장전입에 대한 의혹에 대해서는 침묵하고 있었다. The next day, Lee accused Kim of talking nonsense/ and said the “world had gone mad.” 다음 날 이 후보는 김 의원을 가리켜 "헛소리를 한다"고 비난했고/ "세상이 미쳐 날뛰고 있다"고 했다. Still, he said nothing about the address allegations. 그럼에도 그는 위장전입에 대해서는 한마디도 없었다. Why hadn’t he been honest, and told the complete truth? 그는 왜 정직하지 않았고 완전한 진실을 말하지 않았을까? Even if he had not been aware of his mistake,/ he should have verified the truth after the allegations were made/ and then made the appropriate apology? 그가 자신의 실수를 설령 몰랐었다 해도,/ 의혹의 폭로 직후 우선 사실을 확인했어야 했으며/ 그 다음 마땅히 사과했어야 하지 않았을까?
