| A boar that made an appearance near the Blue House eluded capture for about 12 hours yesterday despite the efforts of about 90 would-be capturers. According to firefighters at Jongno Fire Station, they received the first report of a boar on the prowl at about 2:30 a.m. yesterday morning. Officials from an emergency rescue squad, the police and an animal rescue association set out to capture the animal. ¡°We fired four tranquilizer darts near Chongwun Middle School, located about a kilometer from the Blue House,¡± a firefighter from Jongno Fire Station said. ¡°We succeeded in capturing the boar in a net, but it died at the site,¡± he added. (Photo, Page 2.) Veterinarians later said the cause of death was shock. They added that the pig had probably escaped from a farm, judging from the type of food in its stomach. |
